"Building a Better Los Angeles"

In 2003, the Holman Community Development Corporation (HCDC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization was created through the Holman United Methodist Church to reach the underserved and to provide needed programs and services in the West Adams area of Los Angeles.  Grants, special gifts and other donations will be sought from individuals, corporations and philanthropic interests to develop programs and services.

Our motto: "Helping Build a Better Los Angeles, One Community at a Time."

Our mission:  To strengthen neighborhoods by establishing relationships within the historic West Adams area and surrounding communities to promote self-sufficiency and improve the quality of life for all citizens.  HCDC partners with local residents, business and government leaders to develop programs and initiatives that are socially responsive and effective.

Some of the planned community programs include:

  • Youth initiatives, such as our "Jobs for Kids" summer employment program;
  • Senior citizen programs - organized weekly activities, congregate meals, health promotion, etc.;
  • Affordable housing for low to moderate income individuals, specializing in senior housing;
  • After-school youth enrichment programs;
  • Music and Arts Academy.
