Dr. Wilbert Jordan receives first Bishop Kelly Award for Courage

Dr. Wilbert Jordan with County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas & Pastor Kelvin Sauls

During World AIDS Day worship on Sunday, December 1st, 2013, Dr. Wilbert C. Jordan received the first Bishop Leontine T.C. Kelly Award for Courage from the H.O.P.E. Ministry of Holman United Methodist Church.  H.O.P.E. partners with the Oasis Clinic, which was founded and directed by Dr. Jordan, by providing meals, companionship and prayer to patients living with HIV/AIDS.  Click here for a gallery of images from the presentation during worship.

The award was named in honor of  Bishop Leontine T.C. Kelly, the first African-American female bishop of a major Christian denomination.  Bishop Kelly was a tireless advocate for the human rights of all people including those living with HIV/AIDS.
